15 June experienced in our Independent Azerbaijan-The National Salvation day is the day of our people’s escaping from calamities, laying the foundation of a mighty state. And it was our National Leader Heydar Aliyev who engraved this sacred day in history. After collapse of the Union, a national movement spread in Azerbaijan as in union republics burning for independence. Political processes occurring in our country were different from those in other republics.

The war waged by our artful neighbors on one side, authority avarice of unconversant, unversed country leadership on the other took the people to the edge of an abyss. In such a grave moment, our foes’ coveting our underground and surface resources drove the republic into desperate situation. In such right time, the people set hopes upon Heydar Aliyev and brought him to authority for the second time.

The people trusting this man of genius with their destiny breathed freely at last. Heydar Aliyev never being indifferent to people’s fate put his life at risk and applied his political ability. He protected the country entrusted to him in a short time. Arising stability, armistice achieved in the front defined a development course of the republic. Foreign investors using ensured stability came to the republic and began to invest in different fields.

Just that development beginning from this moment brought about signing “Treaty of the Century”, “Silk way”. Entering into a stage of great growth, our country joined international organizations in a same line with world powers. Our three-colored flag began to wave over international organizations. It is a victory of one people, of one state gained with Heydar Aliyev’s labour. The foundation of this victory was exactly laid in June 15. Our republic already moves forward on the way of independence with determination, is becoming a mighty, leading state with accomplishments it has earned. Heydar Aliyev proved to the world, Azerbaijan has an ancient statehood tradition.

Our respectable president Ilham Aliyev, a person decorously continuing this tradition nowadays, a worthy successor of the Heydar Aliyev’s policy, visited regions issuing significant orders for growth of the country at first. It is sufficient to pay attention to construction works conducted, successes gained, attainments obtained recently for proving rightness of the policy line pursued. Today, Azerbaijan has really become an important country for great powers. Azerbaijan, the country becoming a leading power in economic, political field, steps on the way of independence with vigorous strides. The date of June 15, 1993 were written to the Azerbaijan calendar in golden letters namely by Heydar Aliyev. The people celebrate this day with great feeling of delight and joy. On the occasion of this holiday I congratulate our people with Ilham Aliyev being in the lead and express my warmest wishes.
